Gemma commented:

“I am thrilled to be taking up this post at Blackheath Halls, an established home for live music, comedy, children's theatre and community events in South East London. It’s a very important time for the venue, as we embark on a £2 million renovation of this Grade II listed building. Lata Nobes (Albany Young Creatives) and Jane Hendrie enjoyed an inspiring morning at Millwall Football Ground for the SELCHP Community Fund award ceremony.

Lata (Albany Young Creatives) and I had a wonderful time meeting the staff of SELCHP, other beneficiaries for this year's Community Fund and hearing about all the other fantastic projects that the fund is supporting. It was brilliant to meet our old friends London Bubble, who also received support, and make new friends too. We were also given a lovely lunch.

Lewisham Live 2017 officially finished on Monday after weeks of fantastic performances and workshop opportunities for young people across Lewisham.

Animate Orchestra’s one-day course round up the festival, with a brilliant public showcase after hours of hard work creating new music.

This event followed a back-to-back weekend with live performances, spoken word showcases, street art workshops and body art at CLUB YMA, before the Albany Young Creatives took to the stage and disputed everything you have heard about the ‘millennial generation’.

Highlights of this years festival include;

Live Bands – a private sharing at Sydenham School, where amazingly talented young bands rocked out on stage and received industry feedback.

Live Composers – another new addition to the festival which saw young people create brand new works with the help of a professional mentor, and then heard it performed live on the Albany stage for the very first time.
