Festival planning is underway for 2017 with an explosion of new projects and old favourites.

Our local children and young people's music and dance festival is planning some ambitious new programmes for 2017 including:

  • Creative Collective - transforming young musicians and dancers into composers and choreographers
  • Young Composers - to get young people's compositions heard beyond the bedroom and exam room
  • Young Creatives - first steps in developing a career in the arts for 16-25yr olds

Once again a group of young musicians and dancers will collaborative to create an exceptional orgiginal piece of music and dance.

VAL and EqualiTeam are hosting an NSPCC workshop to build capacity in Lewisham to respond to Child Sexual Exploitation at an early stage.

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a growing problem nationally, and the issues are often very entrenched by the time young people reach more specialist CSE services.

This free half-day workshop will include discussion about the local context, Lewisham-specific agencies that people can refer to, local CSE hot-spots and other issues related to the local demographic.

Paid internship in Stratford leading to permanent post

An educational role with a school in Stratford called School 21. They are pioneering methods of inclusive learning and place high importance in providing education for not just local students but young people with SEN and behavioral support needs. 

The role is front line, so the chosen candidate will spend time working 1:1 and in small groups, mainly in the secondary school. This could interest an extensive range of backgrounds, e.g. theatre practitioners and community facilitators, sports coaches or TA's.
